Originally, the protective power of this sacred cloth was traditionally channeled and created by hunters and healers. The Zulu people, who refer to themselves as ‘the people of the heavens’, are of the most notable warriors of the continent. The Zulu pattern itself is an intricate message of love from wife to warrior. The Triangles, representing male energy, are aligned in battle formation pointing toward the Weaving Spindle (three parallel lines), a symbol of wealth and luxury. The Dots, which lead and follow each triangle, are protected by the Bones of the Snake, which flank each family showing the importance of community.
